The different types and styles of jackets
As you can see, leather jackets come in a variety of styles to add style to your look. Depending on the desired effect, you can choose the one you prefer. So, will you opt for the classic black leather jacket or the brown leather jacket ? Or will you choose a flashier color by opting for a blue, red , or even green leather jacket ?
The most rock: the biker jacket
For both men and women, biker leather is one of the most popular jackets among enthusiasts. Associated with a rebellious image, it's a fitted, fitted jacket that can only be paired with fine clothing: dresses, t-shirts, etc.
The women's biker jacket is a particularly popular piece of leather.
The most casual men's leathers: the bomber jacket and the aviator jacket
Same category, because the two models are similar. The bomber jacket was created between the two world wars to meet the needs of pilots of the time: a warm, durable jacket that didn't hinder movement.
Over the years, it has been somewhat transformed to add a nylon lining (more visible in the event of a shipwreck), which gave rise to the bomber jacket . Fur collar, flap pocket, different leathers, the aviator jacket adapts to your desires.
This vintage leather jacket can be worn with many outfits: jeans, t-shirt, boots, etc.
The warmest: the leather down jacket
Perhaps less well known, but with just as much character, we can now invest in leather down jackets .
With their high collars, zippers, and insulated lining, they're just as well-equipped to protect you from the cold as their fabric counterparts. Whether you choose a short or long down jacket, you're sure to find the perfect style for your needs.
How to choose your leather jacket
Be careful, a quality leather jacket represents a significant budget. It is therefore important to select it carefully and pay attention to several criteria:
- The cut of your jacket : to do this, take your figure into account. Is your build rather round? Go for a men's bomber jacket or a coat with puffy sleeves and a waist that won't make you look bulky. With this type of jacket, you can give your silhouette a more harmonious build from top to bottom. On the other hand, if you are rather slim, you can opt for models that are more fitted and close to the body, such as a biker jacket, which will follow your figure well.
- Sleeves : A good sleeve is one that falls a quarter of the way down the hand, towards the beginning of the thumb. This prevents it from riding up too much when you make large movements.
- Shoulders: They should fit perfectly. You should not feel any hollow between your shoulders or be too tight in them.
- The length of your jacket : if it's a leather jacket, it should fall at the waistband. For the perfect length, raise your arms: if the jacket falls higher than the waistband, it's too short.

What type of leather for my jacket?
Cowhide leather ? Lambskin ? No, buffalo leather! Leather is becoming more and more popular, and to appeal to all budgets, it's been necessary to develop different materials: sturdy leather, soft-touch leather, or grainy leather—there's no shortage of choices!
Are you opting for a leather down jacket? Go for something durable like goatskin . Avoid the quilted and puffy effects of this style of coat, which isn't necessarily graceful, whatever your body shape.
You are looking for a jacket mid-season Sheepskin is a warm material that will perfectly cope with the changing temperatures of autumn and winter. If we're talking about a jacket for spring and summer, head for lambskin.
Are you planning to invest in leather motorcycle gear? Choose cowhide leather, which is durable and will protect you in the event of a fall.
Are you going for a long, leather coat with a stunning effect? Buffalo leather is delicate , but its shiny appearance will delight many.
Finally, for those on a tight budget or those who love a velvet effect, don't hesitate to turn to goat leather , one of the most affordable materials.

How to take care of my leather
Cleaning, moisturizing, waterproofing... After such an investment, you'll need to learn how to keep your leather in good condition. There are several steps involved in caring for your leather.
Cleaning
If you plan to use any product on your leather, clean it first to avoid setting the dirt .
A small damp cotton ball, some soap, and a few gentle movements, and you're done. Above all, don't use forceful drying like a hair dryer or a radiator; it will become damaged and lose its suppleness!
Hydration
Leather needs to be moisturized because it's a natural skin. Without moisturizing care, it dries out and can crack or warp. Adopt the reflex of moisturizing cream or milk , but be careful: rely on your leather type to choose it. The care for lambskin will not necessarily be the same for buffalo (which gets oily, for example) and vice versa.
Remember to test it on a small area before you start. Once your jacket is clean, apply your product in a very small amount and use circular movements to allow it to penetrate the garment well .
To properly moisturize your jacket, repeat this operation twice a year at the start and end of the season.
Let it air dry and then wipe it with a soft cloth to remove any small imperfections.
Please note that these are tips for smooth leather . Grainy leathers such as suede or sheepskin require different care.
How do I remove a stain from my leather?
Ouch, disaster has arrived! Is my jacket ruined? No! First of all, hands off! Don't scratch with your fingernail or a sponge. Arm yourself with your moisturizer and make gentle circular motions. In many cases, this is enough.
For more ingrained stains or more delicate leathers, however, we advise you to brush them and, above all, to waterproof them regularly to prevent irreparable damage from happening.
If you have a white stain , don't worry: they are often caused by changes in temperature and humidity. To remove them, nothing could be simpler: a wipe with a slightly damp cloth and it's gone.
How to waterproof it?
Pull out the waterproofing spray! Held more than 30 cm away from your jacket, you'll ensure it's waterproofed from start to finish.
My leather got caught in the rain: what should I do?
Obviously, leather doesn't like the rain. However, sometimes it's impossible to avoid the rain. So to best protect it, nothing beats waterproofing . If, despite everything, water has seeped in, here are some tips for drying it without damaging it.
- Absorb the water with a cloth and then hang it on a hanger (away from a heat source) and in the open air.
- Once completely dry, apply a special leather waterproofer to counter the next downpour.

Please note, do not attempt to re-dye your leather yourself!
