THE SECRETS OF LEATHER IN OUR COLLECTIONS

LES SECRETS DU CUIR DANS NOS COLLECTIONS

Each season, our men's and women's collections reflect the exacting standards of our design and production team, dedicated to creating leather clothing and accessories. This expertise, central to the brand's identity, is based on a rigorous selection of tanneries and collaboration with certified and trusted factories.

While we primarily work with lambskin and sheepskin, we distinguish ourselves through the meticulous attention to detail in the finishing of each hide. This article invites you to delve into our passion for leather and guides you in choosing the perfect jacket for you.

THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF LEATHERS

Lamb

Lambskin leather is renowned for its exceptional suppleness and naturally soft feel . Lightweight and thin, it offers immediate comfort while perfectly conforming to the body's shape. Prized for its delicate grain and elegant appearance, lambskin leather is ideal for sophisticated jackets designed for everyday wear.

Sheep

Sheepskin leather is prized for its natural suppleness and soft feel. Lightweight and comfortable, it moves with you while offering a beautiful drape and elegant finish. Ideal for everyday wear, it combines refinement, comfort, and durability.

The line between lambskin and sheepskin is very thin. Lambskin is distinguished by a slightly more pronounced grain than sheepskin and is more resistant to wear and tear.

Cow

Cowhide leather is renowned for its strength and durability. With its natural texture, it offers a pleasant and supple feel, while maintaining excellent resistance to wear and tear. This versatile material is ideal for everyday wear or high-end items, combining elegance, comfort, and longevity. Whether for jackets, bags, or accessories, cowhide leather brings an authentic and refined look to each of our creations.

Goat

Goatskin is a fine, supple, and lightweight leather, yet it remains strong and durable. Its naturally slightly grained texture gives it elegance and character, with a pleasant feel that softens even further over time. It is primarily used in the manufacture of our range of suede leather jackets developed for the summer season.

Buffalo

Buffalo leather is a robust and durable leather, prized for its naturally distinctive texture and exceptional longevity. It offers a firm yet pleasant feel, with a pronounced grain that gives it an authentic, vintage style. We use this leather for our Western-style jackets with a nubuck finish, as well as for our range of bags.

Sheepskins

Shearling coats are leathers still covered in their natural wool, offering warmth, comfort, and softness. They combine the robustness of leather on the outside with the softness of wool on the inside, making them a very popular winter garment. Care should be taken when wearing this garment, as it marks easily.

Horse

Horsehide is a dense and durable leather, renowned for its exceptional strength and longevity. Its surface can be smooth or slightly grained, with a firm yet pleasant feel, and it develops an elegant patina over time. Considered the "Rolls Royce" of leathers, this type of hide is rare and will delight connoisseurs or serious leather enthusiasts.

LEATHER TREATMENTS

Having explored the different animal hides we use in our collections, let's now turn our attention to the treatments that give our jackets their unique finishes. There are many types, the main ones being:

Smooth leather jackets

Smooth leather

It is distinguished by a surface of uniform, tight grain, offering a clean and elegant finish. Whether supple or more textured, they are prized for their durability, ease of maintenance, and ability to develop a patina over time. See our models

Washed leather jackets

Washed leather

Both supple and robust, its nuanced color, achieved through hand washing, gives the patina a vintage look. It is used in the making of our iconic Mythic bomber jacket. See our models

Aged leather jackets

Aged leather

Aged leather captivates with its authentic character and timeless charm. Hand-washing reveals a unique texture and deep nuances that tell a story, as if marked by time. See our models

Vegetable-tanned leather jackets

Vegetable-tanned leather

Its fine, supple grain allows for lighter jackets with a tailored fit. The treatment is carried out using natural tannins extracted from plants (bark, leaves, roots).

Grained leather jackets

Grained leather

The surface features a natural or textured relief, called grain, which gives it character and character. It combines robustness and authenticity, offering a visible texture that withstands daily use while maintaining an elegant style.

Suede leather jackets

Suede leather

The leather's surface is intentionally sanded to achieve a velvety, soft, suede-like appearance. It is prized for its matte, warm, and elegant finish. We use it in our spring/summer collections because it is lighter and drapes better on unlined garments. See our models

Nubuck leather jackets

Nubuck leather

The outer surface (grain side) of the leather has been lightly sanded to create a very fine, velvety grain, similar to suede, but with a more uniform and luxurious texture. It is used exclusively on our men's jackets and coats made from durable and timeless cowhide.

Patent leather jackets

Patent leather

This leather is finished with a glossy, smooth coating, often achieved through hot or cold varnishing. This finish gives it a radiant, elegant, and sophisticated appearance. We use it for chic and original pieces, particularly in our women's collections.

Leather jackets

Dipped leather

The leather is immersed in dyeing and finishing baths, giving it exceptional suppleness and a very soft feel. Lightweight and comfortable, it moves with you and offers a fluid, modern look. Most of our leathers undergo this process.

Jackets made of dyed-through leather

Drum-dyed leather

The dye penetrates deeply into the material through a tanning or rotary drum dyeing process. This process results in a rich, even color, optimal durability, and a naturally soft feel.

By choosing leather for our clothing, we're not simply selecting a material; we're choosing quality, durability, and style. Each type of leather brings a unique character to our pieces. Combined with meticulously crafted finishes, it transforms every jacket, coat, or accessory into a piece that is both beautiful and long-lasting.

For us, leather is not just a material: it is a promise of comfort, authenticity and style that develops a patina over time.
