IS LEATHER REALLY TOO HOT FOR SUMMER?

LE CUIR, VRAIMENT TROP CHAUD POUR L’ÉTÉ ?

Who said leather was a winter material? Don't run away! Whether you're a gentleman or a lady, here are some good reasons to opt for leather under the sun's rays.

How to choose the right summer leather jacket?

Leather coats are often wrongly associated solely with winter and are therefore banned as soon as the first signs of heat appear. This misconception is undoubtedly linked to the fact that dark colors like black retain warmth, as do the thickness of the leathers and linings, which can deter some people.

1. The material: lambskin and suede leather

First of all, you should know that not all leather jackets are made from the same types of hides. The origin and thickness of the leather are factors to consider. While some models are up to 1 mm thick, such as cowhide, others vary between 0.7 and 0.8 mm, such as lambskin.

Furthermore, there are leathers specially designed for summer, such as our Sunny model, which is made of fine, grained leather. We therefore prefer smooth lambskin or goatskin, also known as suede, for both women's and men's jackets.

Another important factor is the lining. Some styles, such as down jackets and bomber jackets, have hoods and linings filled with thermal insulation that are particularly effective at fighting the cold. Spring styles, on the other hand, don't have quilted linings and are made of cotton for even more ventilation. This is an opportunity to opt for a leather jacket with a floral lining for a distinctive, spring-inspired garment.

2. The color: bright shades

So, we're putting dark colors at the back of our wardrobes during the summer, except for nighttime outings. Instead, we're focusing on warm colors like red, yellow, camel, or orange, and lighter ones like pink, white, blue, and green. Pastel, flashy, and metallic shades will be a hit when paired well.

3. Choose your cut carefully: perfecto and small jacket

While down jackets, bomber jackets, and other heavy bomber-style jackets are a no-go, we recommend the biker-collar jacket. A true summer bestseller, this style is generally popular for its elegance and simplicity. Its casual style is all the rage during the summer season. These jackets are worn close to the body, which will slim your silhouette. The timeless perfecto, only in lambskin, will also be a welcome choice. For women, don't forget leather dresses and skirts, which will work wonders with your flat sandals.
